North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) is a Tenet Health
Group, 357-bed acute-care hospital located in beautiful Miami, Florida,
conveniently located just minutes from the Miami-Dade and Broward County
lines, and Interstate 95 (I-95). NSMC is staffed by more than 700
employees and over 350 affiliated physician-specialists. The hospital is

Organizations (JCAHO). The Endoscopic Transthoracic Sympathicotomy

St. Alexius Medical Center is a 331-bed community
hospital located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with convenient
access to I-90. As part of Alexian Brothers Health System, a
diversified Catholic health-care system sponsored by the Immaculate
Conception (American) Province of the Congregation of Alexian Brothers,
the care reflects the values of the Alexian Brothers. The system
provides acute care, elderly services and a variety of community-based
health-care programs through facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri
and Tennessee.
St. Alexius Medical Center carries out the healing mission of the Catholic
Church as an Alexian Brothers Ministry by identifying and developing effective responses to the health needs of
those we are called to serve. A wide-spectrum of services includes a Level II Trauma center.
Emergikids provides emergency care for patients 18 years of age and under by physicians trained in
pediatric emergency medicine from noon to midnight.
In addition to inpatient surgery, many outpatient procedures are performed at St. Alexius Medical Center through Day Surgery. There is a dedicated Endoscopy Center as well as a Procedure Clinic for procedures for pain management, blood transfusions, chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy, and Laser procedures.
The Alexian Pediatrics Institute and Pediatric ICU provide continuing care to patients that must be admitted.
Other Centers of Excellence include the Alexian Orthopedics Institute, the Cancer Institute and cardiology. Additionally, St. Alexius provides maternity services with a Level II Plus Neonatal Nursery. Diagnostic services include the Breast Care Center, light-speed CT, MRI, as well as other radiologic and laboratory testing. Both Interventional and diagnostic cardiac catheterization are performed at the Medical Center.
St. Alexius has admitted more than 17,000 patients in 2007 and seen more than 50,000 patients in the Emergency Department. More than $25 million in charity care was provided during 2007.
