Hand Sweat
Palmar Hyperhidrosis / Hand Sweating problem or issue of sweaty palms
can be extremely embarrassing. People with sweaty palms can be thought
of as creepy or nervous. Not only does hand sweat make the person
suffering from sweaty palms uncomfortable, sweaty palms makes people
around him or her uncomfortable as well. If you suffer from Hand Sweat,
it can lead to self-consciousness and insecurity. You might avoid
situations where you’ll have to shake hands or even make your hands
visible to other people to not show Palmar sweating.
Unfortunately, hand sweat is not easily controlled. Unlike underarm
sweat, which can sometimes be controlled by anti-perspirants, hand sweat
does often not respond to this treatment. The main reason is that the
anti-perspirant will easily rub off the hands. You can’t quite stop
using your hands so any topical cream is going to get wiped off very
quickly. It is much easier to keep anti-perspirants under the arms and
other areas of the body.
Anti-cholinergic medications also are not effective on Hand Sweating
problem or palmer sweating as other types of sweat either. In addition,
Palmar sweating or Hand Sweat does not always respond well to
iontophoresis—a treatment that involves passing an electric current.
This system is either ineffective or temporary. Palmar sweating is very
hard to control. Where hand sweat is concerned, surgery is the most
effective treatment available to permanently control palmar sweating.
ETS is highly recommended for patients suffering from hand sweat in
combination with other types of sweating. If you suffer from facial
sweating without Hand Sweat or sweaty palms, your doctor may look for
other treatment options before recommending ets surgery. However, if you
have hand sweat in conjunction with other sweating problems, ETS may be
recommended before other treatments. ETS may be recommended if you
suffer from excessive hand sweat alone or palmar hyperhidrosis
(excessive Palmar sweating) —without excessive facial sweating,
blushing, or underarm sweating.
ETS has a nearly 100 percent success rate for curing Hand Sweat and
palmar hyperhidrosis, as compared to other types of sweating. Blushing
on the other hand will be cured 80 percent—though it can be cured 100
percent in some cases. The success rate for facial sweating is 95
percent. The main side effects are compensatory sweating in areas of the
body other than sweaty palms. However, sweating in the lower back is
much preferable to Hand Sweat as it doesn’t interfere with everyday life
nearly the same degree as Palmar sweating.
